Bali's foreign-tourist levy is a separate provincial charge connected with the protection of the island's culture and environment. The published amount is IDR 150,000 per foreign tourist, subject to applicable exemptions. Use the official Love Bali service, keep the payment voucher accessible and check the current conditions for your own journey before paying.

Know which requirement you are paying for

The levy is not an Indonesian visa and it is not the All Indonesia arrival declaration. A receipt for one does not satisfy another. Government travel advice confirms the levy amount and directs travellers to the Bali provincial government for the rules. The province's tourist code directs electronic payment through Love Bali. If someone offers an arrival package combining multiple services, request a breakdown. Identify the government charge, any optional assistance charge and the actual confirmation you will receive for each task. A package name containing the word Bali does not establish that all your entry requirements are covered.

Use the official Love Bali address

Go to lovebali.baliprov.go.id or the official app provided by the province. Check the full address before entering passport or payment information. A familiar logo on an intermediary's website does not make that site the provincial payment service.

Have the traveller's passport and travel details ready and follow the current official instructions. The system may change its display and payment options, so use its own guidance for the available methods and final total. Do not rely on an old screenshot that promises a particular card or wallet will always work.

Paying before travel can remove a task from the arrival day. If you intend to pay on arrival, check the current designated arrangements and allow time rather than assuming every counter or provider can issue the official record. Keep the service's support details and the transaction reference if a payment needs investigation.

Keep these records with clear labels in an offline travel folder. The person managing a family's paperwork should know which record belongs to each traveller. Check the official service's instructions for children and group payment rather than assuming one adult's transaction covers everyone.

Check an exemption before assuming it applies

The official system provides exemption rules for particular categories. A visa label, a transit situation or a residence document may matter, but a general online comment is not a sufficient decision for your case. Read the present Love Bali conditions and check whether evidence or advance approval is required.

If applying for an exemption, allow time for the stated process and retain the approval. Do not treat a submitted request as an approved one. If your category is unclear, ask the official service before departure and keep its response with your documents. Avoid paying an intermediary solely on a promise of an exemption that has not been granted.

Likewise, do not assume that an age-based waiver or a particular visa exemption exists because it sounds plausible. Use the actual current rule and the traveller's own documentation. For the underlying immigration route, use Visa & Entry.

Keep a usable payment record

After payment, follow the official instructions to retrieve the voucher. Check that the traveller details are correct, save an offline copy and keep any email or transaction reference. A bank notification that a card was authorised is not necessarily the same as the official voucher being issued.

Keep the record accessible throughout the relevant visit rather than deleting it once you leave the airport. If asked for it, display the original official confirmation clearly. Do not crop away information that may be needed to identify the traveller or payment.

Resolve failed or uncertain payments carefully

If a payment appears to fail, check both the official service and your banking record before repeating it. A pending authorisation, a settled charge and a successful voucher are different states. Record the time, amount and reference, and use verified support channels to investigate an uncertain outcome.

Do not share your card security code, banking password or a one-time login code with a person claiming to trace the payment. Contact the bank through its official app or published number when necessary. If the official website is unavailable, verify the address and check the province's current support options instead of moving to an unknown site that promises instant resolution.

Check the rule for side trips and return visits

A holiday can include a domestic island trip, a departure from Indonesia or a later return. Do not assume those scenarios all have the same levy treatment. Check the current Love Bali validity and re-entry explanation for your actual route and keep the existing voucher available while asking.

For example, a boat booking to another island and an international flight out of Indonesia are different events in an itinerary. The operator selling the transport may not be the authority on levy rules. Confirm the applicable requirement before making another payment or deciding one is unnecessary.

Finish the practical arrival plan

Review the traveller names, passport details, date information and any exemption status before departure. Keep a payment backup and enough battery to show the confirmation after a long flight. A printed or securely stored second copy can help if the main phone is unavailable.

Use the All Indonesia guide for the free declaration and Airports & Transfers for your pickup plan. The levy is one practical task in the journey; giving it its own record makes the rest of arrival easier to manage.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Bali tourist levy?

The published levy is IDR 150,000 per foreign tourist, subject to applicable exemptions. Check the current official Love Bali rules for your own circumstances.

Is the levy included in my visa payment?

Do not assume so. The Indonesian visa, Bali levy and free All Indonesia declaration are separate tasks with separate records.

Where should I pay the levy?

Use the official Love Bali website, lovebali.baliprov.go.id, or the official app and designated arrangements described by the province.

Does my visa automatically exempt me?

Check the current category rules and whether evidence or prior approval is needed. A request is not an approval, and a visa name alone should not be treated as proof.

Should I immediately pay again if a voucher does not appear?

First check the official service, your bank record and the transaction reference. An uncertain payment should be investigated through verified support before repeating it.
