A tram photograph places the city’s movement within its streetscape. Choose a safe public viewpoint where the route, surrounding buildings and vehicle can be read together.

Include the tram without losing the street

The overhead wires, rails and façades explain the tram’s urban setting. Choose the background from the pavement first and wait for the vehicle to enter the frame. Use a shutter speed that matches your intention: a sharper vehicle or a controlled sense of movement.

Remain off the tracks and out of cycle lanes. Do not interrupt boarding or photograph so close that passengers cannot pass. The vehicle and street shown here do not establish a current route number or timetable.
