Singel Amsterdam: Photo & Viewpoint

The Singel gives a canal perspective within the central city. Trees, moored boats and the alignment of façades can provide layers that change over a short walking distance.
Build a layered canal composition
The trees, quay and water create successive layers. Try a frame that uses a bridge line or a gap in the branches to keep the far bank readable. Reflections are a bonus rather than the only subject; moving water can still carry colour and lead the eye through the scene.
Check the actual cross street when planning the view: a canal name alone covers a long route. Singel and Singelgracht are different waterways. Stay clear of cycle traffic and do not use a private mooring for a camera position.
