Hong Kong Festivals & Events

Events can shape hotel demand, close a waterfront route or provide the best reason to visit a neighbourhood. Check the organiser’s current programme before booking, and distinguish a verified upcoming date from a recurring festival whose next edition has not been announced. The planning notes here were checked on 25 October 2026.
What Is Confirmed for the Coming Season?
On small screens, scroll the table sideways to compare every column.
| Event or programme | Published timing | Planning action |
|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival | 29 October–1 November 2026; Central Harbourfront Event Space and Tamar Park | Opening evening starts 7:30pm; Friday–Sunday begin at 1pm. Check the day’s closing time and admission conditions. |
| Myths and Monsters: The Art of Fantasy in Asia | 17 October 2026–4 April 2027; M+ West Gallery, Level 2 | A specific museum exhibition with its own admission arrangements; check exceptional closure days. |
| Hong Kong Gourmet Month | 1–30 November 2026, as announced on HKTB’s festival page | A city-wide dining programme; confirm participating venues and the terms of the individual offer. |
| Hong Kong WinterFest | HKTB advertises November–December; no complete dated schedule established here | Use the current official programme for each activity. Do not interpret the seasonal label as confirmed daily opening. |
The official Wine & Dine programme gives different hours by day: 29 October, 7:30pm–midnight; 30–31 October, 1pm–1am; and 1 November, 1pm–midnight. Entrances are beside Tamar Park in Admiralty and Central Pier No. 10. Build the journey around the entrance you will use; allow for queues and harbourfront diversions. Check ticket inclusions and any separately booked tasting session before paying.
For a seasonal visit, follow the official WinterFest page. Its seasonal announcement does not establish a complete schedule for every display or attraction. Keep an unconfirmed activity flexible until its operating dates, venue and admission have been published.
Recurring Traditions: Dates Change

Lunar New Year, dragon-boat celebrations, Mid-Autumn activities and the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance have their own calendars and arrangements. Do not carry a date from a previous year into a future itinerary. Individual races, parades and displays can take place at different sites and have separate viewing or crowd controls.
The photographs here show historical editions for cultural context. They are not images of a promised future programme, and the crowd layout, route or viewing area may have changed. When dates are not yet confirmed for your trip, treat the tradition as a possibility rather than a fixed reservation.
Art, Museums, Performances and Sport
Myths and Monsters: The Art of Fantasy in Asia runs at M+ from 17 October 2026 to 4 April 2027 in West Gallery, Level 2. It connects Asian fantasy traditions with later visual culture, including manga, animation and contemporary design. Choose it when the subject interests you and reserve enough time for the galleries; it is a specific exhibition rather than a general promise that every museum event is included in one ticket.
Choose an event because its programme interests you, then check the venue and transport before choosing accommodation. West Kowloon’s cultural venues are separate buildings with their own opening, ticket and weather arrangements. A museum admission does not automatically include an evening performance or a special programme.
For example, the M+ visitor page currently lists special late-October and early-November changes, including a 31 October 2026 closure and an exceptional opening on 2 November. Those are date-specific instructions, not a new permanent weekly schedule. Recheck when planning a later visit.
Tickets, Crowds and Hotel Demand
Use the organiser’s linked ticket channel and check the session, age category, refund terms and entry location. General event access, reserved viewing and food or drink purchases can be different products. Do not assume an expensive hospitality package is required to enjoy the surrounding neighbourhood.
Obtain actual hotel quotes before fixing an event weekend. A room that is usually affordable can price differently during a major convention, festival or holiday. Leave space in the route for security checks and crowd-control diversions, and choose a clear meeting point outside the busiest entrance.
Bad Weather and a Flexible Event Day
Open-air events can change or suspend under severe warnings. Check the organiser and Hong Kong Observatory before travelling, even if a ticket remains on your phone. Museum or indoor-event alternatives also need their own opening check during strong warnings.
Plan dinner and the journey home around the actual finish, including any temporary station or road arrangements. Keep a quieter alternative for children or anyone who finds crowds difficult. Use Itineraries for a flexible city sequence and Getting Around for transport choices.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use last year’s festival dates for my trip?
No. Check the organiser’s current edition. Lunar-calendar festivals and individual programmes can fall on different dates or use different routes and venues.
Does WinterFest mean every event runs all winter?
No. It is a seasonal programme with activities that can have different dates, places and admission conditions. Check the specific event you want.
Should I book a hotel before event tickets?
Compare both before committing. Confirm the event session and ticket terms, then obtain a room quote with suitable cancellation conditions for the dates you need.
