THAILAND TRAVEL GUIDE
Thailand Useful Contacts: Emergency & Travel Assistance

Save a small set of useful Thailand contacts before travelling and keep your accommodation address offline. In an urgent situation, the right service and a clear location are more useful than a long directory of old telephone numbers.
Emergency numbers to save
The Tourism Authority of Thailand's official useful-call directory lists Tourist Police 1155, police 191, ambulance 1669 and fire 199. These are domestic short codes. Do not add Thailand's international prefix to a short code and assume it will work as an overseas number.
Scroll sideways on smaller screens to compare all columns.
| Need | Number | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Police emergency | 191 | Urgent police assistance |
| Medical emergency | 1669 | Emergency medical service |
| Fire | 199 | Fire emergency |
| Tourist Police | 1155 | Visitor-related police assistance |
| Tourism information | 1672 | TAT visitor information; not emergency medical response |
The numbers were checked against official published sources on 25 October 2026; they were not test-called. Telephone connectivity, language support and the response available at your location can vary. If your phone cannot connect, ask nearby staff or another person to call the appropriate service while you provide a clear location.
For immediate danger, move to a safer position if you can do so without increasing the risk and contact the appropriate emergency service. Tourist assistance is useful for travel-related help, but it should not delay an urgent medical or police call. Give the immediate problem first rather than starting with the entire history of the trip.
What to say when you call
Start with the location: accommodation or business name, street, district, town and a landmark. A map pin can help, but describe the entrance and any access obstacle as well. A large resort, shopping centre or national park may have several entrances that are far apart.
State what has happened, how many people need help and whether there is an immediate danger. Give a callback number that is working in Thailand. If language is a barrier, ask a responsible person nearby to help with the location and translation while you remain available to answer questions.
Keep documents ready without delaying urgent help. Your passport copy, insurance assistance number and relevant medical information may become useful later. Share sensitive details only with the appropriate responder or service. Do not post a complete identity document publicly to ask for help with a local problem.
Tourist Police and tourist assistance
The Tourist Police contact page confirms the 1155 hotline and the bureau's contact channels. Use it for relevant visitor assistance, including help identifying the appropriate police channel. It is not a substitute for a consulate, immigration decision or your bank's fraud department.
Prepare a concise account of a problem, including location, time, business or vehicle details and the documents you have. Retain booking confirmations, receipts and relevant messages. If a rental dispute arises, photograph and record the issue where safe rather than allowing the discussion to become a confrontation.
Tourism information and emergency response are different services. For ordinary destination questions, the Tourism Authority of Thailand's information channel is more appropriate than an emergency line. A staff member may explain a local service, but only the actual operator can confirm your ticket, cancellation or a late arrival arrangement.
Embassies, passports and consular help
Save your own country's embassy or consulate details from its official website. The office responsible for you depends on nationality and location; a directory entry copied from another traveller's guide may be outdated or inappropriate. Keep the emergency out-of-hours procedure as well as the normal contact page.
A consulate can explain its assistance and replacement-document process, but it does not replace local police, a hospital, your insurer or a Thai immigration authority. If a passport is lost or stolen, ask about the local reporting and replacement steps. Do not assume a digital copy is a travel document or that a replacement can be issued immediately.
After obtaining a replacement document, check the Thai immigration and airline requirements before departure. An onward ticket under an old document may need attention. Keep a record of the incident and the contacts made, and avoid booking a tight departure until the necessary process is clear.
Immigration and visa questions
For a visa application, begin with the official Thai e-Visa service and the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate-General responsible for your circumstances. For an existing permission or extension in Thailand, use the Immigration Bureau's official guidance. A travel agency can provide a service but cannot guarantee an authority's decision.
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card FAQ explains submission and correction procedures. TDAC is free through the official service. Do not send passport details to an unverified helper because a search advertisement or message claims the government form requires payment.
If official summaries differ, identify the exact question: nationality, passport type, purpose, arrival route and intended dates. The Visa & Entry guide flags current differences on repeat entries and funds evidence. A precise question is more likely to get a useful answer than asking whether “Thailand is visa-free”.
Transport operators and missed connections

Keep the airline, rail, bus or boat operator's actual contact from the booking confirmation. An intermediary's customer service may handle a ticket change while the operating company handles a departure delay or pickup problem. Know which one you need before an early-morning or remote transfer.
For airport information, use Airports of Thailand and the specific airport's current guidance. Airport information cannot authorise a late airline check-in or guarantee a connection between separate tickets. Write BKK or DMK in your notes so a request for “Bangkok airport” does not create a costly misunderstanding.
For rail, start with the State Railway of Thailand booking service. Confirm the exact station and train from the ticket. If a local transfer fails, send the operator the booking reference, pickup point and a working number; do not assume an unattended social-media comment is an urgent support channel.
Banks, insurers and accommodation
Save the bank's overseas assistance number using an official source before you travel. If a card is lost or a transaction is suspicious, use your issuer's secure channel promptly. Do not share PINs, passwords or one-time codes with someone offering to reverse a charge or help at an ATM.
For insurance, keep the assistance procedure and policy reference offline. Tell the insurer the relevant activity and location accurately. Preserve receipts and clinical or incident documents where provided. Whether an expense is reimbursed depends on the policy and claim assessment, not on a general travel guide's description.
Ask each accommodation for a practical arrival contact, especially if reception is not open throughout your arrival window. Confirm late check-in, pier collection and the final approach. A message to a booking platform may not reach the on-site person quickly enough when you arrive after the last boat or at a locked entrance.
Build a short offline contact card
Create one note with your name, emergency contact, accommodation address in Thai, insurance assistance, bank assistance and the main emergency codes. Keep it available without an internet connection. If travelling in a group, make sure more than one person has the essential information.
Update the accommodation and transfer details at every move. A location pin for yesterday's hotel can be actively unhelpful in a stressful situation. Keep medical or identity details secure and proportionate to the need; the public version of a contact card should not contain account passwords or a full document scan.
Use Health & Safety to prepare the route and activities before trouble arises. This contact page is a directory and communication aid, not a promise of response time, multilingual support or a particular outcome from any authority.
