Vienna Useful Contacts: Tourist Information and Help

Choose the right service for the problem. Tourist information can help with a visit or hotel search; transport operators handle their own tickets and assistance; emergency services handle immediate danger. Keep your exact address and booking reference ready before contacting anyone.
For an Immediate Emergency
| Situation | Call |
|---|---|
| General emergency | 112 |
| Ambulance | 144 |
| Police | 133 |
| Fire | 122 |
Use the government directory for current emergency information. Give your location first, describe what happened and follow the dispatcher’s instructions. Routine sightseeing questions belong with tourist information.
Tourist Information
The city-centre Tourist Info is at Albertinaplatz / Maysedergasse, 1010 Vienna. The official tourism site lists daily opening 09:00–18:00 at the check date. The airport Tourist Info is in the arrivals hall, also listed daily 09:00–18:00. Recheck hours around public holidays or a time-critical visit.
For advance trip and hotel questions, Wien Hotels & Info: +43 1 24 555, email info@wien.info. Published service hours are Monday–Friday 09:00–17:00, closed on public holidays. Source: the Vienna Tourist Board. This is useful for narrowing an accommodation search, including access needs, but it does not replace the property’s own confirmation.
Transport and Airport Help
| Question | Official starting point | Have ready |
|---|---|---|
| City tickets, routes and lift status | Wiener Linien | Ticket type, station, direction and time |
| Rail journey or long-distance assistance | ÖBB | Train number, date and required assistance |
| Airport flight/terminal information | Vienna Airport | Flight number and airport code |
| CAT replacement bus | CAT | Date, stop and booking reference |
| Airport bus | Vienna Airport Bus | Route, stop and time |
During the 2026–27 rail works, an older screenshot can show an unusable S7/CAT connection. Check the current airport guide and the operator’s live journey information before leaving. If you lose property, start with the operator or venue where it was last seen; suspected theft is a separate matter for the police.
Access and Document Questions
BIZEPS provides independent-living advice by appointment, with contact details in the accessibility section. For a station lift, contact the transport operator; for a room’s dimensions, contact the hotel. Asking the service that controls the actual facility avoids a general answer being mistaken for a guarantee.
For passports, entry or consular assistance, use your country’s official representation and Austria’s Foreign Ministry. A city tourist office cannot issue a visa or replace a passport. Keep a separate record of your insurer, card issuer and consulate before departure, using their own official contact channels.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the tourist office handle an emergency?
Use 112 or the relevant emergency number for immediate danger. Tourist information is for ordinary visitor questions.
Where should I ask about an accessible hotel room?
The tourist board can help with a search, but the property must confirm the actual room, entrance and bathroom arrangements.
