Oslo Useful Contacts: Tourism, Consular & Lost Property Help

The most useful contact is the organisation that can act on your problem. Oslo’s visitor centre helps with sightseeing and visitor products; Ruter handles local transport questions; a train operator, airport or coach company has its own lost-property process. For a passport emergency, contact your country’s consular service.

Contacts checked: 18 October 2026. All times below are local Norwegian time. Telephone service hours, collection hours and public access are different where stated. Check the linked official page before a special journey, particularly on public holidays.

Immediate danger or urgent illness? Use the emergency service rather than a tourism email or customer-service form: medical emergency 113, police emergency 112, fire 110. The Health & Safety emergency guide explains urgent care, non-emergency police and other help.

Oslo Visitor Centre: Official Tourist Information

Address: Jernbanetorget 1, Østbanehallen, 0154 Oslo. The official visitor centre is in the historic station hall beside Oslo Central Station. From the station, follow signs for Tourist Information. From the main Østbanehallen entrance by the Tiger statue, the centre is on the left inside the hall. The photograph above shows an Østbanehallen entrance, not an assurance that every station entrance leads directly to the desk.

Telephone: +47 23 10 62 00.
Email: info@visitoslo.com.
Telephone hours: weekdays 10:00–12:00 and 12:45–15:00.

Published October–December desk hours: Monday–Friday 10:00–16:00; Saturday 10:00–15:00; Sunday closed. The listing also marks 24 and 25 December closed. These seasonal hours differ from the phone service. Check VisitOSLO’s visitor-centre page and its current opening-hours listing for your date.

Bring your dates, interests and any access requirements. Staff can help with maps, local sightseeing and the Oslo Pass. For a flight change, a lost train bag or an emergency passport, use the responsible service below. Keeping these requests separate avoids waiting for a tourist desk to forward an urgent problem.

Public Transport: Tickets, Disruptions and Customer Help

Ruter — metro, tram, local buses and ferries

Telephone: +47 22 05 70 70.
Service hours: Monday–Friday 07:00–20:00; Saturday 09:00–18:00; Sunday and public holidays 10:00–16:00.

Use the official contact page or Ruter contact form. Ruter lists its walk-in customer centre, Ruter S, at Jernbanetorget 1; check the dedicated centre hours before going. The phone schedule above should not be read as a guarantee of desk opening. Requests for ticket refunds or taxi-expense reimbursement must be submitted in writing with a valid receipt.

For a route question, give the stop, direction, date and departure time. For a ticket problem, add the ticket type and the sales channel, without sending full card details. Consult the journey planner for current departures; the Getting Around guide explains which local transport and ticket you need.

Vy — train customer service

Telephone: +47 61 05 19 10.
Email: tog@vy.no.
Regular train-service hours: Monday–Friday 07:00–23:00; Saturday 08:00–21:00; Sunday 09:00–23:00.

The Vy Help & Contact page separates train, bus, taxi and rail-replacement enquiries. Choose the relevant service rather than assuming one number handles every Vy product. Keep the journey date, departure and arrival stations, train number if known and booking reference ready. For a refund or compensation claim, use the specific process linked from customer service and retain the original ticket and receipts.

Flytoget — Airport Express Train

Telephone: +47 23 15 90 00.
Customer service: Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00; the website also offers chat.

For something left on a Flytoget train, the operator asks you to call on the same day you notice the loss. Outside customer-service hours, its lost-and-found instructions say to press 1 to reach airport staff, available daily 05:00–23:00. This is an extended lost-item contact option, not a promise that every refund or booking request can be handled then.

Nationaltheatret: Ruter city services

The lost-property office is at Nationaltheatret metro station. Published collection hours are Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00; telephone hours are Monday–Friday 10:00–17:00. Holiday closures apply. Ruter says items normally reach the office on the following working day, with weekend finds arriving on Monday, and registered items are kept for four weeks. Submit the official Sporveien missing-item report and follow the current collection instructions before travelling.

Oslo S: Vy train lost property

The office is beside the storage lockers at Oslo Central Station. Telephone +47 61 05 19 91 is staffed Monday–Friday 10:00–14:00; the office opens Monday–Friday 07:30–16:45, excluding public holidays. It is closed on weekends. Vy links to the Entur lost-property register for searching and reporting.

This office covers the Vy services listed on its page, including south-eastern local and regional trains. For SJ NORD or Go-Ahead, use that operator’s own contact. Vy warns that it can take up to seven days for an item to reach a lost-property office; the absence of a same-day listing does not settle whether it has been found.

Oslo Bus Terminal and coach journeys

Oslo bussterminal, Schweigaardsgate 6, 0185 Oslo. The terminal’s form applies to items lost in the terminal building. For something left on a long-distance coach, contact the coach operator; for Ruter services, use Ruter’s process. Provide the departure stand if known, coach company, route, travel time and where you were sitting.

Gardermoen and Torp: Airport Help and Missing Bags

Oslo Airport Gardermoen — OSL

For an item forgotten at the airport or left on an arriving aircraft, start with Avinor’s Oslo Airport lost-and-found page and its linked MissingX register. The office is by check-in area 1 in the departure hall, with published opening 06:00–22:00. Telephone +47 64 81 34 77 is answered 10:00–14:00.

If a checked bag did not arrive, was delayed or was damaged, contact the airline’s baggage handler through Avinor’s baggage guidance. That is a different process from reporting a phone left at security. An item lost on the airport train or bus belongs with that transport operator. For onward travel, use Airports & Transfers.

TORP Sandefjord Airport — TRF

TORP Servicecenter: +47 33 42 70 00, select 1 for the service centre. The airport contact page lists servicesenter@torp.no for general service-centre enquiries.

For lost personal belongings or hand luggage, the dedicated TORP lost-and-found page gives the same phone number and service@torp.no, and links to MissingX. Use that lost-item channel and check the register; TORP says found items are normally made available there within 24 hours. Missing checked baggage is handled separately through the airline or its handler. A Torp arrival is not a Gardermoen arrival: check the airport code on your itinerary before contacting an office.

Embassies and Consulates: Passport and Citizen Assistance

Contact the service responsible for your nationality. The following are selected official contacts, not a complete embassy list. Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides directories of missions resident in Norway and all missions accredited to Norway. Check your own foreign ministry and the mission’s current service instructions before attending; an honorary consulate may not provide the document you need.

United States — U.S. Embassy Oslo

Address: Morgedalsvegen 36, 0378 Oslo.
Main and after-hours emergency telephone: +47 21 30 85 40.

The U.S. Department of State’s Norway page lists these contacts and states that consular services are by appointment. Use the U.S. Embassy’s official website for citizen-service procedures and current access instructions. Have your identity details, contact number and travel date ready when asking about a lost passport.

United Kingdom — British Embassy Oslo

Visiting address: Thomas Heftyes gate 8, Oslo. Public access is by appointment. For consular assistance or an emergency, start with the embassy’s official page and its FCDO contact service, which routes urgent help and passport-document enquiries. Use the official emergency travel document service for the applicable requirements.

Germany — German Embassy Oslo

Address: Oscarsgate 45, 0258 Oslo.
General telephone: +47 23 27 54 00.
Urgent consular duty number: +47 90 85 08 02.

The official contact page limits duty availability to Monday–Thursday 16:00–midnight, Friday 13:00–midnight, and weekends and holidays 08:00–midnight. Use the duty line for urgent cases; follow normal appointment and contact procedures for routine services. It is not a general 24-hour tourist helpline.

Türkiye — Turkish Embassy Oslo

Visiting address: Halvdan Svartes gate 5, 0268 Oslo.
Telephone: +47 22 12 87 50.
Email: embassy.oslo@mfa.gov.tr.

The embassy contact page lists consular personal applications 09:00–12:30 and telephone applications 14:00–16:00. Check appointment requirements, working days and holiday closures before visiting. Use the mission’s current instructions for an urgent citizen-assistance matter rather than assuming its general switchboard is staffed all night.

Lost Passport, Cards or Phone: What to Prepare

If there is immediate danger, contact Norwegian emergency services first. For a passport problem, tell the consular service your nationality, full name, where you are staying, when you intend to travel and which document is missing. Ask about any police-report requirement, appointment, photographs, fees and acceptable identity evidence. Confirm onward travel requirements before buying a replacement ticket; do not assume a document can be issued the same day.

For stolen belongings without immediate danger, use the police’s non-emergency guidance and 02800 within Norway. Freeze a lost card through your bank’s own trusted channel and protect a missing phone through its account provider. If the phone also held your tickets, bank access and hotel details, use your offline copies or ask a trusted companion to help you contact the responsible service.

Make a Request the Office Can Act On

For transport or lost property, write a short message containing the date, local time, route, direction, boarding and exit stops, and a distinctive description. For a booking problem, add the booking reference and contact the seller shown on the confirmation. Share sensitive identity or payment information only through the official secure process when requested.

Keep the reply, reference number and agreed next step. Before collecting an item or attending a consular appointment, confirm the exact address, entrance, hours, ID requirements and whether someone else may act on your behalf. Telephone opening does not guarantee walk-in access. The Travel Essentials guide covers documents and practical preparation; Health & Safety covers medical services and emergencies.
