Oslo Airport Transfers: Gardermoen & Torp

Check your flight’s airport code before comparing tickets. Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) is northeast of Oslo and has a fast rail connection. Sandefjord Airport Torp (TRF) is a different airport south of the capital, with a substantially longer transfer. A cheaper flight to Torp can therefore mean more time and a higher ground-transport bill.
This guide compares the trip to Oslo S / Oslo bussterminal. Add immigration where applicable, baggage collection, walking to the platform or stop, and the journey to your hotel. Prices below are in Norwegian kroner (NOK), checked 18 October 2026. Dated coach and Vy examples are for one adult travelling one way on 19 October 2026; availability, discounts and prices can change.
Choose Your Airport Transfer
| Transfer | Adult fare | Journey |
|---|---|---|
| OSL · Vy | NOK 134 | ~20 min |

| OSL · FB5 | NOK 279¹ | 65 min¹ |
| TRF · coach | NOK 339 / 370¹ | 1 h 35 min¹ |
| TRF · shuttle + Vy | From NOK 417¹ | 1 h 58 min¹ |
| Private vehicle | Quote; Torp minibus from NOK 4,800 | By address / traffic |
¹ Dated online examples for 19 October 2026, checked the previous day. The Torp rail example includes the terminal shuttle and replacement buses; do not add the separate NOK 55 shuttle fare again. Flytoget’s eligible reduced fare is NOK 138. Coach fare conditions and full routes are explained below.
For a central hotel and a daytime Gardermoen arrival, start by comparing Vy with Flytoget. Choose the coach when its actual stop or late departure suits you better. From Torp, compare a direct coach with the complete shuttle–rail itinerary, especially during the current works.
Gardermoen (OSL) to Oslo
Vy Trains: Lower Standard Fare to the Centre
The checked Ruter fare selector gives NOK 134 for an adult single between Zone 1 and Zone 4N, covering Oslo and Gardermoen on eligible Vy trains. A Zone 1 city ticket alone is insufficient. Ruter tickets are accepted on Vy services in Oslo and Akershus, but not on Flytoget. Confirm the zones for your real destination if you are staying outside central Oslo. See Ruter’s single-ticket conditions and the live fare selector.
Follow the terminal signs for trains, then match the departure board, operator and platform to your ticket. Avinor describes the airport–city train journey as around 20 minutes. That does not include the walk from your aircraft or a connection beyond Oslo S. Check Vy’s planner for stopping patterns and engineering work before buying.
A valid Ruter ticket can also be useful for an onward local journey within its zones and validity period. Check the expiry time rather than automatically buying a second city ticket. For the final metro, tram or bus connection, use Oslo public-transport tickets.
Flytoget: Airport Express with Its Own Ticket

Flytoget’s current fare table and ticket screen both show NOK 276 adult / NOK 138 reduced between Oslo Airport and Oslo S. The same adult fare is listed for Nationaltheatret, Skøyen and several other nearby stations; check that your chosen departure stops at yours.
The train takes around 20 minutes to central Oslo, depending on the departure. Flytoget’s ticket is a separate product, so a Ruter ticket does not cover it and the express ticket does not automatically include your city tram or bus. Children under 16 travel free when accompanied by someone over 16; the operator lists half-price categories including young people aged 16–20, eligible students and seniors aged 67+. Carry the required proof for a reduced ticket.
Flybussen: Useful Stops and Some Late Services
The Flybussen journey search showed FB5 from Oslo lufthavn to Oslo bussterminal at NOK 279, with a scheduled 65-minute trip, for the checked adult journey on 19 October. This is a dated online fare for that route, not a promise for every airport bus or departure.
Compare the coach’s stop list with your hotel entrance: a longer ride can still save an interchange or a luggage walk. Allow extra road time in traffic. Buy for the correct date and direction, and read the chosen operator’s luggage and change rules. Flybussen Connect’s ticket information states that onboard fares are higher than online fares and payment onboard is contactless by card.
Taxi or Prebooked Vehicle from Gardermoen
Use the airport’s signed taxi arrangements or a confirmed booking. Ask for the complete price to the hotel, including the number of passengers, luggage, tolls, any waiting allowance and late-night charges. A quoted vehicle total cannot be compared directly with a train’s per-person fare. For planning, allow roughly 45–60 minutes on the road in ordinary conditions, with more time in traffic or bad weather; this is an estimate, not a guaranteed transfer time.
A taxi can be practical with several bags, a child seat requirement or a hotel poorly served at your arrival time. Confirm the vehicle and assistance needs in advance, and keep the booking details accessible if your flight is delayed. Avinor’s official transport overview is the starting point for terminal transport information.
Torp (TRF) to Oslo
Book from Sandefjord Airport Torp, not Gardermoen. Oslo S railway station and Oslo bussterminal are connected within the same central transport area, but neither is every visitor’s hotel doorstep. Include your last walk or city connection when comparing Torp with an OSL flight.
Torp-Ekspressen: Direct Coach to Oslo Bussterminal
The official booking results for 19 October showed NOK 339 Lavpris and NOK 370 FullFlex for one adult from Sandefjord Lufthavn Torp to Oslo bussterminal. The scheduled trip was 1 hour 35 minutes. Examples included 08:40–10:15, 18:55–20:30 and 22:00–23:35; check your own flight date before relying on any of these times.

Torp-Ekspressen links its airport service to Ryanair and Wizz Air flights, and specifies that departures leave no earlier than 45 minutes after their actual arrival. Confirm the arrangement for your airline and seasonal timetable. A flight-linked coach is not an all-night turn-up service. Choose your flight and read the fare’s flexibility conditions before paying.
On arrival, follow the current bus signs outside the terminal and check the destination with the driver. Returning from Oslo, verify the platform on the terminal displays rather than relying on an old bay number. Torp also lists other coaches via Fokserød, about 3 km from the airport; these are not automatically terminal departures and require a separate connection. See the airport’s bus overview.
Train and Shuttle: Include Every Leg
Current disruption: Vy’s RE11 notice covers 12 October–22 November 2026. Parts of the Vestfold route use replacement buses between the Asker/Drammen area and stations farther south. A normal rail-time estimate is therefore insufficient for a trip during this period. The checked 19 October 15:13–17:11 airport-to-Oslo itinerary took 1 hour 58 minutes, from NOK 417 including the shuttle. Its route was shuttle → Torp station → train to Stokke → replacement bus to Asker → train to Oslo S. Vy flagged short transfer times; choose a more generous connection if needed. This is a dated available fare, not a flat rail tariff.
Search “Sandefjord lufthavn” → “Oslo S” in Vy’s planner to include the terminal shuttle. Searching only “Torp stasjon” starts at the railway station and leaves out the airport leg. The airport lists a four-minute shuttle and a NOK 55 shuttle fare. Check whether that leg is already included in your complete ticket before adding it again. Waits and interchanges make the total longer than the sum of vehicle times.
| Shuttle service window | Published operating hours |
|---|---|
| Monday–Friday | 04:43–01:15 |
| Saturday | 05:43–23:16 |
| Sunday | 06:43–01:15 |
These are the airport’s published shuttle windows, not the last train times to Oslo. The shuttle meets most train arrivals, not every possible connection. Verify the whole itinerary in Vy, including any replacement bus. Do not plan to walk the road between station and airport with luggage: Vy specifically warns that the road is unsuitable for pedestrians. Outside the current works, the airport describes the rail option towards Oslo as approximately 1½ hours; still check the complete journey for your date. Official Torp train and shuttle information.
Torp Taxi and Group Minibus
Torp’s official minibus page advertises Vestfold Taxi transfers to Oslo from NOK 4,800, with different vehicle sizes up to 16 passengers. This is a starting vehicle price requiring a confirmed booking, not a per-person ticket or a quote for every address. Request the total for your group, luggage and arrival time.
For a private road transfer, allow roughly 1½–2 hours as a planning estimate, with extra time for congestion or weather. Confirm child seats, wheelchair arrangements and flight-delay waiting terms before booking. A nearby hotel with a separately confirmed morning transfer can be a more sensible fallback than an unplanned long taxi journey.
Late Arrivals and Early Flights
Gardermoen after Midnight
For 19 October, FB5 results showed 00:45–01:50 and 01:15–02:20 at NOK 279, then 04:45–05:50. Check your date; the gap matters if baggage or a delay makes you miss the bus.
Torp Evening Arrival
The checked coach search included 22:00–23:35 on 19 October. Confirm the coach linked to your actual flight. Check the complete Vy journey before choosing a late shuttle.
If You Miss the Last Connection
Contact the operator about a delayed flight, then compare a confirmed taxi/private transfer with a nearby hotel. Tell your Oslo accommodation about the changed arrival time.
Early Flights from Either Airport
Search the reverse journey for your flight date. Work back from the airline’s check-in/bag-drop deadline and include the hotel-to-stop leg, waiting time and a recovery margin.
Airport trains and coaches do not all run throughout the night. A final shuttle does not prove that a usable onward train exists. Torp closes its terminal at night and does not permit an overnight stay inside; consult its terminal opening hours and service information. Arrange accommodation or transport before a late arrival rather than treating the terminal as a waiting room until morning.
Tickets, Families, Luggage and Accessibility
Ticket and Passenger Type
Check airport code, travel direction, departure date, refund rules and operator. Child, youth and senior age bands differ between companies.
Luggage and Children
Compare the complete group price. Reserve any required child ticket even when free; check pushchair, sports-equipment and large-luggage conditions with the chosen operator.
Step-free Travel
Check terminal-to-platform access, working lifts, boarding arrangements, replacement-bus accessibility and the hotel entrance. Arrange assistance with the relevant operator in advance.
Final Hotel Connection
Map the correct station exit and a manageable luggage route. Include the time to reach your hotel’s actual entrance and any local ticket needed.
Keep the ticket and payment method accessible during the trip. Check the operator’s activation instructions before boarding; an unactivated product is not a valid journey ticket. If replacement transport is involved, confirm the accessible vehicle rather than assuming that the usual train’s facilities apply.
Does the Oslo Pass Cover Airport Travel?
The current Oslo Pass terms include Ruter transport and Vy local trains within zones 1, 2, 3, 4V and 4N. This can cover an eligible Vy journey to or from Gardermoen while the pass is valid. It does not include Flytoget, airport coaches or the Torp transfer outside those zones. Check the exact service and ensure the pass stays valid for the whole journey.
Activating a sightseeing pass for a late airport arrival starts its consecutive-hour clock before the next morning’s museums. Compare the airport saving with the sightseeing time you would use. VisitOSLO also announces an app purchase/activation interruption on 20 October, 14:00–16:00; already activated passes remain usable. See the Oslo Pass comparison before deciding.
Continue planning with Where to Stay, Getting Around Oslo and the 1-, 2- and 3-day itineraries. Allow a short first evening after a Torp arrival rather than booking a timed attraction immediately after landing.
Last checked: 18 October 2026. Fares and timetables above distinguish current standard fares from dated online examples. Recheck the linked official booking screens and disruption notices for your journey; no ticket purchase or future service operation is guaranteed by this guide.
