Budapest at Night: Parliament Photo Guide
The illuminated Parliament is the subject of this frame. The long horizontal façade sits above a dark river, with the dome providing the main vertical accent. The bright stone and its reflection are more important to this composition than a detailed sky. This is a different photographic task from a daytime record of the building’s ornament.

Start by choosing a safe public viewpoint on the opposite bank where the whole façade fits. At blue hour, a little remaining sky brightness can reduce the contrast between building and background; later darkness creates a more graphic result. These are suggestions, not a claim about the source photographer’s exact settings or a guarantee that the lighting will be operating.
Composition and light
Expose for the bright façade and check the highlight detail before increasing the exposure for the river. A passing boat can add a light trail but also block the reflection; decide whether it belongs in the frame. If you use a tripod where permitted, keep it out of the walking route. A handheld frame with a shorter exposure may be the better choice in a busy area.
Access and a responsible approach
Do not walk onto a road, cycle route or lower embankment to reproduce a viewpoint. Water levels, closures and access can change. Use the current BKK planner for the return and keep a warmer layer for time beside the river.
