This Vouliagmeni coastal photograph follows a curve of shore towards a low headland, with clear water across the foreground. The photographer’s record dates it to 14 July 2018 and provides a camera location. Those details make it a useful reference for a particular coastal composition, rather than an interchangeable illustration of every beach on the Athens Riviera.

Locate the photograph before choosing a beach

The source record gives the camera coordinates as 37.827888° N, 23.769972° E. Use them as the recorded location of this photograph when comparing the coast on a map. They are not a recommended entrance or a guarantee of a public path, parking place or accessible standing position.

The source calls the scene “Beach in Vouliagmeni” without naming a beach operator. It shows the sea, not Vouliagmeni Lake. We do not label it Astir or Akti Vouliagmeni merely because those beaches share the wider neighbourhood. This distinction prevents a photograph of one stretch of coast from becoming misleading directions to another.

Choose the coastal setting for the picture you want

The official neighbourhood guide distinguishes the central bay, the Kavouri coast and the separate lake. Decide which setting fits your photograph before planning the journey:

  • Kavouri coast: look for the relationship between small bays, shoreline and a headland. The municipality’s Kavouri Beach description identifies sandy stretches and a paved coastal walking area. Confirm the particular access you will use.
  • Akti Vouliagmeni: a managed beach at the meeting of Posidonos and Apollonos, according to the city guide. Its entry and camera conditions belong to that operator, not to this archive photograph.
  • Vouliagmeni Lake: a different subject with a cliff setting and its own admission arrangements. Do not use this sea photograph as a preview of the lake.

These are alternative settings, not three names for the photographed beach. For an outing comparison and the journey from Athens, use Beaches Near Athens.

Build the frame around the shoreline

Keep the horizon level, then choose how much transparent foreground water to retain. The curve of shore can lead the eye towards the distant land; including too much empty sky weakens that relationship. A wide frame explains the bay, while a closer one can connect a particular rock or shore edge to the headland.

Reflections, wind and sun direction change how clearly the seabed appears. Compare glare with the calmer parts of the water before framing. The source records a 24 mm lens setting, f/8 and 1/1250 second, which describes that exposure rather than guaranteeing the same water colour or result. Give swimmers space and avoid making identifiable people the main subject without their agreement.

Plan the return to Athens

Use Getting Around and the current operator’s journey planner for the actual coastal stop; do not assume a tram reaches every Vouliagmeni destination. Check the return before waiting for changing light. The photograph’s weather and beach furniture do not establish present conditions.
