Use Czech koruna (CZK/Kč) for a Prague budget. The euro is not the national currency, and a business that accepts euros can set its own conversion. Start with the room cost for your actual dates, then add food, local travel and the paid visits you genuinely want. The figures below separate verified ticket prices from editorial planning allowances.

Adult Prague transport fares checked on 18 October 2026
TicketFull adult fare
30 minutes36 CZK in PID Lítačka; 39 CZK paper.
90 minutes46 CZK in the app; 50 CZK paper.
24 hours140 CZK in the app; 150 CZK paper.
72 hours340 CZK in the app; 350 CZK paper.

These prices are for ordinary full-fare Prague travel, not Airport Express or an unrestricted regional journey. Check age-related entitlements and the rules for children and older visitors before buying. PID’s fare page is the controlling source. Getting Around explains validation and activation.

A Daily Budget You Can Adjust

The examples below are planning allowances per adult per day, excluding accommodation, travel to Prague and travel insurance. They are not surveyed restaurant quotes or a promise of availability. Choose a room independently and add its total cost divided by the number of people sharing. A couple sharing a room should not count a full room twice.

Illustrative spending allowances, excluding accommodation
ChoiceWhat it means for your trip
Careful spending: 800–1,200 CZKSimple meals, mostly walking/PID, a limited admission allowance. Major paid visits may need extra room in the budget.
Moderate spending: 1,300–2,000 CZKCafé breaks, table-service meals, transit and a meaningful paid visit or two, depending on the actual ticket mix.
More flexible: 2,200 CZK and aboveLonger restaurant meals, more admissions or entertainment and occasional private transport. Premium dining can exceed this readily.

Room Costs and Local Accommodation Charges

Compare the final room total with taxes, breakfast, cancellation terms and the exact occupancy included. The Prague accommodation fee is generally 50 CZK per liable person per chargeable day of stay, excluding the arrival day; exemptions and collection depend on the applicable rules. Ask the property what your displayed price includes. The municipal local-fee information explains the charge. For kitchens, laundry and a longer booking, use Longer Stays & Costs.

Cash, Cards and Exchange

Pay in CZK when a card terminal offers a choice between koruna and your home currency. Dynamic currency conversion is a separate offer; compare the disclosed rate and fees before accepting it. An ATM can also add an operator fee on top of your own bank’s charges. Cancel and compare if the total is unclear. Use a recognised exchange office and read the amount you will receive, not only the most prominent rate on a board. Never exchange money with someone approaching you in the street.

Current Notes and Coins

The Czech National Bank lists banknotes of 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000 CZK and coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK. Old 50-koruna notes and haléř coins should not be treated as normal spending cash. Some older banknote versions have also been withdrawn. Check the CNB’s illustrated currency information if you are bringing old currency; do not assume a note is valid just because its denomination still exists.

City Passes & Tickets

The official Prague Visitor Pass combines included attractions and Prague public transport in 48-, 72- and 120-hour versions. Check the current included experiences, activation rules and any reservation requirements against your own route. A museum or cruise you would not otherwise choose does not create a saving just because it is included. Compare child/student products separately, because their ordinary admission and travel entitlements differ.

Use a simple break-even calculation: the individual admissions you intend to use, plus the transport you would actually buy, minus the current pass price. For a walking-and-cafés visit, separate tickets may be more suitable; an intensive paid-sightseeing trip can give a different result. Verify the live price and inclusion list at Prague City Tourism’s official pass page before deciding. A city pass does not make a rushed or geographically awkward itinerary worthwhile.

Travel Tip:Make the paid-visit list before buying a pass. Put each admission on the day you can realistically use it, check closures, and compare that total with the pass price shown for your dates.
