Bournemouth is a safe town that experiences petty crime, but hardly any violent acts. Tourists find it very safe even around the beaches. Like any town some areas should be avoided at 2 in the morning. Picket pockets and purse snatching can be an issue during the tourist season, but they are exceptions, not the rule.
