Jackson Hole works well for a winter group trip, from a bachelorette weekend to a ski trip with friends: big-mountain skiing, a lively small town, elk-refuge sleigh rides and Grand Teton National Park on the doorstep. Book lodging and lift tickets early, as both get more expensive closer to the date, and plan one non-ski day for everyone in the group.
This guide was researched on 5 November 2026 using the resort's, the National Park Service's and the airport's official pages where available. Check prices and dates before booking.

Skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, in Teton Village, is known for steep, challenging terrain, but it also has groomed runs for intermediates. Its signature ride is the Aerial Tram, which climbs 4,139 feet to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain. At the top, Corbet's Cabin serves its famous waffles from 27 November 2026 until closing day.
Tickets are tiered and sold in limited quantities, so the earlier you buy, the less you pay: single-day adult tickets start at $85 and multi-day tickets from $60 a day on selected dates. Children aged four and under ski free. In 2026–27, the resort's "Ski Free on Arrival Day" offer gives a free half-day on the day you arrive, outside blackout periods such as the Christmas holidays and Presidents' Day week.
If your group has mixed abilities, book Mountain Sports School lessons for the beginners in advance; lessons do not include lift tickets or rental equipment.
Where a group should stay
- Teton Village: ski-in, ski-out hotels and condos at the base of the resort. Best if skiing is the priority.
- Town of Jackson: about 20 minutes away, with the town square, restaurants and bars. Best for groups who want nightlife and a choice of dinners.
- A rental home or cabin: the most practical option for larger groups, as it gives you a kitchen and shared space. Check parking, bed configurations and winter access before booking.
A non-ski day

The best-known winter activity is a horse-drawn sleigh ride on the National Elk Refuge, just outside town, where thousands of elk spend the winter. Rides usually run from mid-December, after the end of the elk hunt, to early April, and leave from the area of the National Elk Refuge and Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center. On most days you can turn up and buy tickets; reservations are usually needed on holidays. Check the current season and prices with the operator before you go.
Other group options include a guided snowmobile or dog-sled tour, a soak at a nearby hot spring, or a private dinner at a mountain cabin. For a bachelorette or birthday trip, many groups book a private chef or a dinner sleigh ride for the main night.
Grand Teton in winter
Grand Teton National Park is a few minutes from town. In winter, the Teton Park Road is closed to cars from 1 November to 30 April between Taggart Lake Trailhead and Signal Mountain Lodge, and from mid-December to mid-March it is groomed for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and walking. The main highway through the valley stays open and gives classic views of the Teton Range.
The park entrance fee is $35 per private vehicle for seven days. From 2026, non-US residents aged 16 and over pay an additional $100 per person unless they have an annual pass; the park does not accept cash.
Getting there and around
Jackson Hole Airport lies inside Grand Teton National Park, a short drive from town and Teton Village. Winter flights fill up quickly around the holidays, so book early. The resort has offered airfare credits on qualifying packages; check current offers before booking.
A car is useful for exploring, but you need winter tyres and experience of snowy roads. Shuttles and public buses link the town with Teton Village. See our USA travel guide for wider planning.
