PR is a shopper’s paradise. US Dollars are accepted everywhere. The Dollar is sometimes called the Peso by the locals. All credit cards are accepted, but you may want to use your ATM card if you’re exchanging money. The fees are lower and you get a better rate. PR does have a 5.5% sales tax and tipping in retail establishments is the same as in the US. Some restaurants add a tip to the total, but others expect a 15-20% tip.
