If you’re staying in an all-inclusive resort, the night action can be winning cash in one of the casinos, or dancing the night away in a chic night spot. The pulsating rhythm of Latin music is everywhere at night, especially in the hot dance clubs and bars in the tourist areas.

Here are some we like: Alcazar in Santiago offers meals, as well as a casino to its guests, but the real action starts after 1am, when the locals arrive to party.

Alta Copa, in Santo Domingo, is a fantastic wine bar, and is a local hangout for trendy Dominicans.

Arena is another club, in Santo Domingo, where the gay community gathers to party. There’s a foam party on Wednesday night, and a drag and stripper show fills the club on Sundays.

Atarazana 9 is a café and bar in Santo Domingo. It offers guests live music and a relaxing atmosphere.

Bambu is a beach bar and disco, which gets started around midnight, and Bar Le France serves excellent shrimp and generous drinks on the seafront road in Santo Domingo.
