The City has growing offshore banking and tourism sectors. There are more businesses registered in the Cayman Islands than there are people. The islands are considered the fifth-largest banking center and one of the biggest tax havens in the world. Also unemployment is very low.
Barack Obama, President of United States pointed his wishes out to restraint the multinational corporations' use of taxes on May 4, 2009. As a tax shelter, the Cayman Islands were preferred in the speech. The following day ,an open letter to the President Barack Obama was submitted by the Cayman Island Financial Services Association which detailed the Caymans' had a role in international finance and value to the US financial system.
