Amsterdam Nightlife

Amsterdam gets its second wind when the sun goes down. The pubs and bars seemed to be filled day and night, but the clubs and disco in Amsterdam only happen at night and are known around the world for their freestyle and youthful abandonment.

Paradiso is one of the best. It’s located in the Central Canal Ring and is actually an old church that has been converted to a pulsating musical and dancing paradise. The acoustics are great and the Sugar Factory, which is near Paradiso, is another great spot. Café Hoppe in the Red Light District is another hot spot. It is known as an after work hangout because of its elegant old world interior and rich selections of local beer. Bitterzoet is also in the Red Light District. It focuses on emerging talent and it’s not unusual to listen to an underground indie band or a hip hop or reggae band from the US, while enjoying the local beer and other local spirits. Upscale party goers usually find themselves enjoying the incomparable view of the city from Ciel Blue Bar in the Okura Hotel. This loft perch sits on the 23rd floor and is a perfect place to relax and appreciate the beauty of Amsterdam.
