Introducing Amsterdam

Amsterdam (Netherlands)
Amsterdam (Netherlands)

Amsterdam is now considered one of the best cities in Europe for business; in fact it’s ranked fifth behind London, Paris, Frankfort and Barcelona. The city is the 5th busiest tourist destination in Europe; over 4 million people visit Amsterdam every year. Retail shops in Amsterdam are well known throughout the world and young fashion designers are setting up shops in the former brothels in the red light district of the city.

The city now has a population of over 1 million and the metropolitan area is the 6th largest in Europe with more than 6.7 million residents who enjoy the cool climate, thanks to the North Sea.

The average daily temperature in the summer is in the upper 70s and in the winter the temperature is in the 40s and rarely falls below 32 degrees. It rains during the cooler months of October through March. The average number of rainy days a year is around 175, but it is usually in the form of a drizzle or light rain.

Amsterdam in a Few Words

A trip to Amsterdam can only be described as indescribable. The local residents on bikes, the canals, the squares and the dam, as well as the narrow streets and alleys make this city a special experience. The people add their own flavor to the city by injecting different ethnic cultures into this mixing bowl of architectural beauty and eclectic nuances. That blend produces a modern day fishing village with a 21st century business attitude. There’s no other city in the world that offers sex, drugs and liquor and does it in a way that melts into a pot of acceptable diversity.
