The Venceslas square represents the heart of Prague it is there that the outstanding events of its history took place: the declaration of the first republic in 1918, confrontation with the Soviet tanks in 1968, and important manifestations of the Velvet Revolution in 1989. The place is dominated by the national Museum. This imposing building was built between 1885 and 1890 by the architect Josef Schultz.
