With approximately 51% of the working population, the agricultural sector always occupies the first place in the Egyptian economy. The land reform undertaken by Nasser as soon as its arrival to power, in 1952, involved a redistribution of the lands, until there belonging to the royal family and the great families. It is estimated that currently, each peasant would have on average a half-hectare of land.
