The Szechenyi Baths is one of the medicinal baths that started over 600 years ago when the Turks occupied Budapest. For about $11 US you can spend the day in the spa and fitness center and enjoy the soothing and relaxing baths that have made this Hungarian city so famous. The Hungarian State Opera House was completed in 1884. This new-Renaissance structure is modeled after the Vienna Opera House and it is the home of the State Ballet and the State Opera. It is the number one attraction in the city. St. Stephen’s Basilica, which was built between 1851 and 1905, has a 300 foot neo-Renaissance dome and accommodates over 8,600 people. It is the fourth most popular attractions in the city. Buda Castle is the second largest Baroque Palace anywhere and has a constant flow of visitors.

A cruise along the Danube is a relaxing way to sightsee and absorb the energy of the city. The Chain Bridge is another important attraction and so is the Central Market Hall. The market is filled with souvenirs, as well as fruits and vegetables. It is one of the largest market halls in Europe. The Holocaust Memorial Center is the most moving and emotional site to visit and draws thousands of tourists to the city every year. Castle Hill is another tourist stop. It is a beautifully restored area of the city in the heart of the medieval section, which is filled with narrow alleys, cobblestone streets and classical buildings and lovely squares.
